Dear Parents,

Lilo & Stitch the Series is perhaps one of the finest shows Disney has ever made for young children. So many shows, including many on Disney today, are really just out there to keep your children entertained. These shows are designed to keep them busy. But after the show is over, have they really learned anything? What can they take from that show that they can relate to their own life? What can they take from that show that will teach them how to accept each other for who they are, and teach them to be a better person and treat others with respect. Not too many shows have these life lessons in them anymore. Lilo & Stitch the Series is one of those exceptions.

Even if you haven’t seen Lilo & Stitch the Series, you probably have seen Lilo & Stitch the Movie. But for those that haven’t, the movie and series is based on a little girl named Lilo. Both of her parents died in a car crash and now her older sister Nani is trying to raise her. Lilo has had it pretty tough at this point. She has lost both of her parents at a very young age. She has a tough time adjusting to her sister being the authority figure. And all she wants is a friend. The closest thing she has to playmates is her classmates at hula school who tease her terribly. She’s lonely. She wants a friend. She feels she’s lost everything. That is until Stitch comes along.

Stitch is experiment 626. He is an alien experiment meant to destroy big cities. When he is discovered on his home planet he is sentenced to spend life on a desert asteroid. Of course Stitch escapes and takes off in his own space cruiser into hyperspace. As luck would have it, he lands of earth, and who is the first to discover him but Lilo.

Lilo quickly accepts Stitch as part of her o’hana (or family). But things don’t start out that well. Stitch proves to be quite a trouble maker. And to make matters worse Stitch’s actual creator has now come to earth to try and find Stitch and bring him back home. Now it seems that Lilo may lose her own family member and best friend. And when things get out of hand Stitch begins to wonder where he really belongs. Things do eventually work out well in the end and Stitch officially has a family and Lilo has her friend.

This is Lilo & Stitch the Movie. This is perhaps one of the best Disney movies of all time. Now we fast forward to Stitch: The Movie. We discover that Stitch in fact does have his own family. In fact he has 625 other cousins. All of these of course are alien experiments all meant to do different evil things. These experiments are in little pods. Once these pods get hydrated, the experiments activate. And as luck would have it these experiment pods get spread all over the Hawaiian islands and now it up to Lilo and Stitch to find each one of these experiments, turn them to good, and find their one true place. That leads us to Lilo and Stitch the Series.

And this in fact the plot of this Disney Channel series: Lilo & Stitch must find and catch each one of his cousins and find the one special place where they belong. This series has proved to be a lot lighter on the drama then the movie was. But the lessons are still there. How many kids watching this show are growing up in a broken home? How many children have lost a loved one? How many children are being picked on by a bully? How many children had trouble making friends? How many children have found it hard to accept someone for who they are because of looks? Lilo & Stitch the Series addresses all these issues and more. This truly is a family show. You can watch these episodes with your kids and have some wonderful conversations afterwards. This is truly a quality show you just don’t find anymore, even on Disney Channel itself. As we like to say at Save Disney Shows so many shows, especially some of the recent releases on Disney Channel are just filled with “potty humor”. These shows are meant to give kids a quick laugh to something that borders on the G rated level. Yet Disney will cancel this series, just like all of its others, at 65 episodes, despite the fact it is one of the best family shows on right now.

This is why we need your help parents. Many kids watching this show are too young to go onto the Internet, let alone write or call Disney. That’s why parents you need to stand up and tell Disney to keep quality programming, what little is left, on the air. We will help you get started. We will help you with any questions you may have. The most famous line from the movie and series says it best. "O’hana means family. Family means nobody gets left behind, or forgotten." We hope you will join us in saving some very important members of our o’hana: Lilo and Stitch. They will not be forgotten.
